Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Staff Lunch & Learn Series
Six events announced for staff to gather, share, discuss topics

Madison, Wisconsin (Friday, November 4, 2022) — Wisconsin Youth Company is committed to building an organizational culture, developing childcare professionals, and supporting children and families in a way that embraces diversity, fosters an environment of inclusion and enhances equity. In addition to doing the work, the organization recognizes the importance of having space and time to discuss these important topics as a team. To create this, a monthly lunch and learn series dedicated to DEI topics was announced, with the first one held Thursday, November 3, 2022.

“As we worked on the strategic plan this year, we all agreed that incorporating values around diversity, equity and inclusion into our strategic goals is important to us. Our team has been, and continues to do, great work around this. In addition to the work that is happening, it is important to have a dedicated space for staff to discuss these issues as a team,” says Rebecca Carlin, executive director. “The first Lunch & Learn event was a success. We had a lot of great conversation and I look forward to the next one.”

There will be six paid lunch events throughout the 2022-2023 School Year, with each lunch and learn focused on a different topic, facilitated by a different staff person. Prior to each lunch, an article or podcast related to that event’s topic is shared out to participants. Participants are then guided through conversation related to the content and how it applies to the organization’s work.
