Lights On Afterschool Caravan Parade Around the Capitol
As a member of the afterschool community, Wisconsin Youth Company invites you to take part in a parade around the Capitol to spotlight and celebrate out-of-school time providers and the amazing work they do. The national Lights On Afterschool campaign recognizes afterschool professionals and the organizations that support them. (afterschoolalliance.org/loa.cfm) Join us Thursday, October 22, 5-6p.m. for a parade around the Capitol building.
COVID-19 Safety Precaution: To ensure everyone’s safe distancing, the parade will take place as a caravan of cars driving together down E. Washington Ave. to the Capitol Square, circling the square, and then dispersing back down E. Washington Ave.
Parade Start: Parade route will start on E. Mifflin St. between N. Patterson and N. Brearly (see route map below), follow East Washington west to the Capitol Square, go around the square, and back east onto E. Washington.
Since we will be in vehicles, we are encouraging anyone who wishes to participate to decorate their vehicles with streamers, magnets, window markers, glow sticks, and/or balloons! Attach them securely so we avoid any accidental litter left behind.
All parade participants must follow local traffic laws, posted street signs, and drive responsibly before, during, and after the event.
