Inaugural Wisconsin Paddle Battle Pickleball Tournament Raises Awareness for Out-of-School Time Programs
New fundraising event supports working families through popular sport

Madison, Wisconsin (Wednesday, April 9, 2025) — Wisconsin Youth Company announces the Wisconsin Paddle Battle, a community pickleball tournament and fundraiser set to take place on May 17-18, 2025 at Phoebe Bakken Memorial Park in Cottage Grove. The tournament offers an exciting way to engage both longtime supporters and community members who are not already involved with Wisconsin Youth Company while aligning with the growing popularity of the sport.

This two-day event invites pickleball players of all skill levels to join in friendly competition while supporting a great cause. Proceeds from the tournament benefit Wisconsin Youth Company’s programs, which provide high-quality out-of-school time care, enrichment, and support for children and families throughout Dane and Waukesha Counties.

“We are thrilled to introduce the Wisconsin Paddle Battle as our signature fundraising event this year. After celebrating our 50th anniversary with a lively gala last year, we wanted to return to an event that brings our community together in an active, engaging way — just like our programs do for kids,” says Regan Kregness, development director, Wisconsin Youth Company.

The tournament features men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles divisions, with brackets organized by skill level plus a “just-for-fun” bracket for the casual pickleball player. Everyone from pros to newcomers can compete for fun and prizes while supporting a great cause. Participants enjoy prizes, food vendors, and family-friendly activities including a 50/50 raffle.

“Pickleball is a fantastic sport for a variety of ages and skill levels. We can’t wait to see existing supporters and new faces rally together to support local children and families while having fun on the courts,” Kregness adds.

Registration is open and sponsorship opportunities are available. Visit the event website to sign up or learn more. Contact Regan Kregness with any questions or if you are interested in volunteering at the event.

Join Wisconsin Youth Company for a weekend of fun, fitness, and community spirit — all in support of children and families across Wisconsin.
