Out-of-School Time Field Welcomes Jackie Scott as Organizer
New position aims to strengthen awareness, support for state’s OST field
Madison, Wisconsin (Thursday, February 6, 2025) — Wisconsin Youth Company in partnership with Madison Out-of-School Time coalition and Wisconsin Out of School Time Alliance announce the hiring of Jackie Scott as the state’s new Out-of-School Time Organizer. This newly established role is designed to elevate awareness and advocacy of OST programs throughout Wisconsin. OST programs play a critical role in supporting working families and businesses across the state.
Scott brings an extensive background in education and OST as a former middle school social studies teacher as well as creator of her own after school program. Additionally, Scott is a lifetime Wisconsin resident and knows the ins and outs of Wisconsin’s unique political and social landscape.
“Jackie comes to this work with both an education and an organizing background. She cares about children and families in Wisconsin, and is ready to put her skills to work to advocate for them across the state,” says Rebecca Carlin, chief executive officer, Wisconsin Youth Company. “Jackie’s experience and passion for youth development make her an outstanding choice for this role, and we are thrilled to have her leading this effort.”
Scott will travel across the state to meet with OST providers and collaborate with community organizations to advocate for public policies and public funding that supports children and families in Wisconsin. She will lead grassroots statewide advocacy efforts.
“OST programs, like after school and summer camps, are essential for working families. For many families, these programs are the difference between working or losing their jobs,” Scott says. “I look forward to working alongside providers and stakeholders to build a strong, connected network that champions the needs of Wisconsin’s children and families.”
This position was made possible through the Community Impact Grant awarded by Madison Community Foundation.
