Winter Wander offers daily field trips and adventure-themed activities for students in grades 3-5 on select days over their winter break. Small group sizes and engaging staff provide the perfect environment for children to challenge themselves and build self-confidence.
Winter Wander Outpost | Wisconsin Youth Company Office, 1201 McKenna Blvd., Madison
Winter Wander trips run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. daily.
- Daily drop-off is between 8-9 a.m.
- Pick-up between 4-5 p.m.
Students will be transported to and from Wisconsin Youth Company for daily field trips either by Wisconsin Youth Company van or by school bus.

Thursday, December 27 | $65 per child | MacKenzie Center, Poynette
WYC is not offering a Winter Wander program on December 27
Friday, December 28 | $70 per child | Chula Vista Waterpark, WI Dells
Take a break from the cold and go swimming, sliding and splashing at Chula Vista Waterpark. No need to bring a lunch on this day, a pizza lunch will be provided.
Thursday, January 3 | $75 per child | Kalahari Waterpark, WI Dells
Start the New Year off with a splash! Float along the lazy river or speed down water slides at Kalahari Indoor Waterpark. This day also includes a pizza lunch to end our great winter adventure. No need to bring a lunch.
Friday, January 4 | $70 per child | Cascade Mountain, Portage
This entire day is devoted to snow, hills & tubing. Board the bus as we head north for a full day at Cascade Mountain. Please pack a water bottle and a non-refrigerated lunch on this day. Participants will only be snow tubing. Skiing and snowboarding will not be permitted.
Important Trip Information
Registration Deadline | Wednesday, December 19, by 5 p.m. | For all program dates
Deposit | $10 deposit per child, per day is due at time of registration
Balance of Fees | Balance of program fees is due five business days prior to program date. Deposits and remaining fees due are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Daily Snacks | Morning and afternoon snack will be provided
Swim Level | If registering for waterpark trips on December 28 or January 3, student must be a 2 or 3 swim level.
Packing List | All participants should come prepared to be outdoors | Bring snow pants, boots, coat, hat and gloves | Bring a water bottle and a non-refrigerated lunch when lunch is not provided | Wear sturdy shoes | If registered for a waterpark program, wear swimsuit and bring provided swim shirt and towel
Weather Related Changes and Cancellations | If weather conditions (extreme cold or snow) prevent regular planned activities from occurring, an alternate activity will be provided. Please see below for a list of possible alternate activities. If weather conditions have the potential to cause a dangerous situation for staff or families, Winter Wander will not operate. Wisconsin Youth Company will do their best to notify families as soon as possible in the case that a program is cancelled. An announcement will be made via email and on our website. Families will also be notified of the cancellation via text message. There is no credit or fee reduction for days missed.
