Middle School U Registration will open mid-March. 

Middle School U (MSU) offers students, entering grades 6-9, a fun and safe environment to stay active, build new friendships, learn skills and develop new interestsOur welcoming and inclusive environment is ideal for students to develop their independence and build supportive relationships. 

MSU will operate in a modified format for Summer 2021 in order to meet health and safety standards surrounding COVID-19. MSU will offer three sessions, each session lasts two weeksStudents will remain with the same group and instructor for the entire twoweek session. Under current health and safety guidelines, cooking classes and off-site field trips will not be offered. Each session will be instructed on-site by skilled and knowledgeable staff.  

Summer 2021 Schedule
  • MSU is open Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Students should arrive between 9-9:30 a.m. and depart between 3:30-4 p.m.
  • Students will need to bring a cold lunch each day that does not require refrigeration or microwaving.
  • Students should come prepared to go outside each day, weather permitting.

Wisconsin Youth Company puts the health and safety of students and staff first. MSU will follow CDC and public health guidelines. Students and staff will be required to wear masks while indoors and maintain social-distancing. Masks are not required outdoors, but are welcomed.

Explore your creativity with various forms of art mediums. This course will introduce you to many techniques that will take your artwork to the next level. Experiment with different styles of art as you try out an array of materials, and a variety of specialized tools to find something that suits you. An experienced art instructor will be there to guide you, give advice, and instruction as you choose the projects that appeal most to you. Some activities include but are not limited to the following:

Experiment with new projects, supplies, and techniques and pass along your knowledge to peers. Your instructor will help you with the process and provide inspiration to assist you in creating the end product that you envision. Some activities include but are not limited to the following:

Get ready for some unplugged fun as you activate your imagination through role-playing games. Help your group set the course and decide your fate. Draw upon your creativity while collaboratively strategizing to work your way through exciting adventures. Dive into different worlds where you will learn how to add details and challenges. Under the direction of a skilled and knowledgeable instructor, you will learn about new resources and some tried and true tricks of the trade as you play old favorites like D&D and HarnMasterand discover new games. Develop interesting characters, build a story, and use critical thinking and wit in different imaginary worlds.

Let your curiosities take over as you hypothesize and look for answers through trial and error and data collection. Delve into new concepts and share your knowledge with others in a fun and investigative atmosphere. Have fun with science whether you are testing and comparing slime recipes or finding ways to harness the energy of the sun. Get messy, get measuring, and get methodical. Test different hypothesis in areas of chemistry, physics, geology, and biology as you develop your own project for a virtual science fair. Work collaboratively to solve problems, test your theories, and discuss outcomes.

Challenge your mind and activate your imagination as you develop serious strategy skills and enjoy some friendly competition. Critical thinking, wit, and strategy come together in different imaginary worlds that are sure to lead to a winning experience. Play old favorites and discover new games under the direction of a skilled and knowledgeable instructor. Your group will set the course as you choose between different genres of board and card games and play styles of round-robin game tournaments, as well as, longer, more complex versions of your favorite games. Discover new ways to strategize and problem-solve your way to victory. Some activities include but are not limited to the following:

Gain confidence, think on your feet, and build your presentation skills through an introduction to the basic concepts of theater arts. Use various creative drama practices to stimulate your imagination through movement and role-play. Learn to use proper techniques for body and voice control and follow or give stage directions. Laugh with friends through theater games and activities that will help you explore depth of emotion. Partake in fun writing activities to better understand and analyze characters as you explore, learn, and discuss elements of drama. Some activities include but are not limited to the following:
