Summer Courses to Encourage Your Middle Schooler to Enjoy Natural Wonders

April 10
SHARE:

These Middle School U programs are intentionally designed for students entering grades 6-9 as an expansion of our elementary-age Wander Wisconsin program. These programs aim to advance students’ independence, expand their exploration of community and connection, and boost their opportunities for self-expression.

Below are two courses — each with a different theme, but all designed to get your middle schooler outdoors, active, and encouraged to be off their devices for the summer.

Outdoor Eats

Outdoor Eats is all about combining the joy of cooking (and eating) with the great outdoors! From cast-iron pizzas at Devil’s Lake State Park to hot dogs while catching a Night Mare’s game, students practice meal planning and budgeting as they cook up lots of tasty treats and visit some favorite spots to make the most out of their summer in the great outdoors.

When this course is happening:

  • June 27-31 at Shorewood Hills Elementary, Madison

STEAM On

Sign your student up to explore hands-on, real-life science and engineering! They will witness renewable energy systems up close, build and launch model rockets, and put their engineering skills to the test by assembling solar cars. Middle schoolers have the opportunity to meet and watch real-life scientists at the BTC Institute, UW Physics Museum, Wisconsin Energy Institute, and other amazing stops this week.

When this course is happening:

  • June 16-19 at Badger Ridge Middle School, Verona
