Hi families:

January was filled with snow days, fort building, and snow castles when we had an opportunity to go outside. Even when it was too cold to build outside, the kids wanted to bring that fun indoors. By dividing up our pre-fort materials and finding whatever materials they could, each kid had a space to decorate and call their own. We used the gym as much as possible to balance out activity levels and are now incorporating juggling and more active skills to help cope with the winter weather.

In the coming month, we plan to begin and continue our board game tournaments, juggling lessons, personal sock-puppets, and more fort-building. We all really hope the weather eases up, so we can enjoy outside time, which helps everyone take a breath and can reset our energy levels. If anyone has activities their kids would like to take part in at the program, please let me know at astoikes@wisconsinyouthcompany.org.

With the colder temps and the snow falling more frequently, please send appropriate winter gear with your kids to school and After School. If kids want to play in the snow, they must have snow pants, boots, hats, gloves, and warm coats. We will provide that gear if the kids need it, but not everything is a perfect fit.
