Our 4K wrap program helps your child to discover new opportunities through our choice-based curriculum. Lunch

Hot lunch is available through the school. Please work with Cushing to set up this option.

If not receiving hot lunch, Parents must send a sack lunch that must not require refrigeration or microwaving. Some children have life-threatening allergies (like a peanut or tree nut allergy). For this reason, Wisconsin Youth Company requests that children bring a nut-free lunch.

Snack

  • A morning and afternoon snack will be provided, along with milk
  • All snacks served at program are nut-free
  • All children must wash hands with soap and water before and after eating
  • Please see the Wisconsin Youth Company Program Handbook for more details about snack

Rest Time

  • Each day, there will be a 30-minute rest time for children. Wisconsin Youth Company will provide a padded mat and sheet for your child to lay on.
  • Under DCF state licensing, children are required to have a blanket at nap time. Please send a blanket with your child. You may also send a small pillow or stuffed animal. All items will be kept in a tote at program.
  • During rest time, the lights will be turned off and quiet music will be played. Children that do not choose to sleep may be given permission to play with small manipulatives near their mat.
  • At the end of each week, children’s items and rest sheet will be sent home to be washed and returned to program. It is important that Parents send the items back with their child on the following Monday.

Hello!

I’d like to thank everyone who was able to attend our “Garden Breakfast” last month. It was great to have you visit and see all the work we have been doing in our classroom!

In May, we will learn about the letters W, X, Y, and Z along with taking learning activities outside. As we are going to spend more time outside, please send a water bottle daily with your child. Some children have mentioned wanting to bring sunglasses. I recommend putting them in their backpack if you would like them to have a pair for when we go outside. With the spring weather, the UV index will start to rise, I plan to bring out sunscreen for the children.

Have a great month and Happy Mother’s Day to all our GREAT moms!

Ms. Lisa

I can’t believe it’s getting close to summer!

April in Review:

We went over the letters T and U. Some of our favorite projects were paper plate unicorns and tornadoes in a jar. We spent most of the month learning about flowers and what grows in gardens. We planted beans, grass, and sunflowers in preparation for our family gathering. We hope you all enjoyed it; I know the kids loved having their parents in the classroom.

To finish off April I let the kids take control of what we learned and talked about. They picked some fun topics (ex: Trolls Day, All About Sports, and Princess Day). We will be continuing this into May.

A look into May:

During May, we will finish up the alphabet (V, W, X, Y, and Z). Once we finish the alphabet, we will do themed weeks such as science and movie week. Now that the weather is getting nicer, we plan to have class outside more often.

Feel free to email me with any questions you have about the last few weeks of school.

Hello families,

Wow, has this school year gone by fast? I can’t believe we have less than a month of school left. We spent a lot of time outside and worked on children-requested projects. The children have been enjoying the nicer weather and they want more outside time. Other children have been wanting to do and create certain projects. With these requests, we have been doing our best to get these requests granted.

In April, the children were a great help in decorating for our family gathering. They had a blast making all the fun sea life to go along with our SpongeBob theme. The family gathering was, as always, a big hit! Thank you to all who came to hang out with your children during this special event. Like other years in the past, the children work together to pick the theme for the family gatherings. Sometimes staff will help by giving ideas but in the end, the children pick out the theme together. I can’t wait to see and hear about all the ideas they will have for next year.

Thank you,

Stephanie Bowe-Gardner
