Daily Activities

Wisconsin Youth Company 4K wrap teachers will create weekly lesson plans tiered to the children’s interest. Our 4K wrap program helps your child to discover new opportunities through our choice-based curriculum. Within daily activities, children will have a chance to participate in STEM, art projects, community building games, and other various hands-on activities to expand their developmental growth. Along with developing important life skills such as language, social, and emotional skills.

There will be time for daily outdoor play (weather permitted) where children will participate in group games and explore the playground.

Lunch

Hot lunch is available through the school. Please work with Cushing to set up this option.

If not receiving hot lunch, Parents must send a sack lunch that must not require refrigeration or microwaving. Some children have life-threatening allergies (like a peanut or tree nut allergy). For this reason, Wisconsin Youth Company requests that children bring a nut-free lunch.

Snack

  • A morning and afternoon snack will be provided, along with milk
  • All snacks served at program are nut-free
  • All children must wash hands with soap and water before and after eating
  • Please see the Wisconsin Youth Company Program Handbook for more details about snack

Rest Time

  • Each day, there will be a 30-minute rest time for children. Wisconsin Youth Company will provide a padded mat and sheet for your child to lay on.
  • Under DCF state licensing, children are required to have a blanket at nap time. Please send a blanket with your child. You may also send a small pillow or stuffed animal. All items will be kept in a tote at program.
  • During rest time, the lights will be turned off and quiet music will be played. Children that do not choose to sleep may be given permission to play with small manipulatives near their mat.
  • At the end of each week, children’s items and rest sheet will be sent home to be washed and returned to program. It is important that Parents send the items back with their child on the following Monday.

The end of the year is right around the corner. Time has flown by this year, and I am sad to see it ending. All the children in 4K wrap have come so far since the beginning of the school year, and I am so proud of them!

April in review: In April, we learned about a lot of animals and prepared for our jungle-themed party. The kids had an amazing time. Thank you to all the parents who showed up. A couple highlights from our animal theme were learning facts about giraffes, lions and elephants, as well as working together as a class to make a paper chain snake.

We also had an Easter-themed week. We hid Easter eggs, made bunnies out of toilet paper rolls, and had a jellybean tasting day.

We had a bug week during the last week of April. We learned how honey is made, went on a nature trail looking for bugs, and made bee, butterfly and dragonfly artwork.

A look into May: Our last full month of the school year is going to be full of fun. The first couple of weeks we will learn about plants and what they need to grow and thrive. We will grow grass heads, beans, and sunflowers. We will also have a sensory week and a summer/ beach themed week for the last two weeks. Mother’s Day is in May as well, so we will work hard for a week to make gifts for our amazing mothers.

Thank you!

Ms. Ellyn

Hello Cushing families,

It is so hard to believe this is the last newsletter of the 2024-2025 School Year. It really seemed like this school year flew by so fast. Only a month left to go! Hopefully, within this last month, we will finally get some nice and warm weather to stay.

We are looking forward to getting outside more and possibly enjoying snack and projects outside. This is one of our favorite times of the year.

Back in April, we celebrated our last family gathering; it was an amazing outcome. Thank you to all the families who showed up and took time out of their day to hang out with their children. All the kids seemed to have a great time. Congratulations to Mason for winning the Spring Family Gathering raffle basket. He guessed there were 27 Dum Dums in the mini star pinata. There was a total of 25 inside.

With the school year ending, make sure you double or even triple check the lost and found for any belongings you may have lost in the school year. If it was left during Before or After School, it most likely will still be there.

Have your children check their folders for any crafts and activities they have done and take home. Their folders are sitting right on the sign in/out table (orange basket).

I hope you all have a great summer. I am looking forward to seeing you all next year or in our summer camp over the summer. Remember, just because it’s summer doesn’t mean you don’t have to read. Pick up a book or two and enjoy reading in the nice sunny weather.
