January Recap:

In January, we had fun with more projects including 3D handprints, Play-Doh Pictionary, and a Magna-Tile maze. We also introduced new items to the space; our new Minecraft blocks seem to be a big hit for the kids! They already want to get more. The kids also decided they wanted to have a talent show in February. Some of them have already been practicing their talents or thinking about what talents they would like to do.

February Happenings:

This month, we are looking forward to our talent show! Each child can show their talents to the whole group, and everyone is welcome to come. Lookout for an email from us once we have finalized a date. We are also looking forward to making Pokémon projects to celebrate National Pokémon Day, as well as doing Minecraft projects since we have seen such a high interest from the kids.

Lastly, we will likely hit our incentive goal in February! Once we reach our goal, we will celebrate by having a special day of the kids’ choosing. To reach our goal, the groups work on following the rules we created as a group. These rules included being kind to everyone, cleaning up after ourselves and being respectful to our space. When a teacher sees a group doing a good job with one of these things, they tell the group they are receiving a smiley face for our jar.

Family Engagement:

We asked children in grades 4: What have you been most interested in at After School?

  • Puzzles
  • Projects
  • Minecraft blocks
