Hello Franklin families!

Can you believe it? We have completed another year of After School!

This final month was filled with plenty of spring and summer vibes. Kids enjoyed making their own paper bag kites, safari hats, scavenger hunts, flower crowns, fruit salads, dandelion playdough, water balloons, and celebrations to end the year.

Project Spotlight: Dandelion Playdough

Supplies needed:

  • A big handful of dandelions
  • 1 cup of hot water
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1/3 cup of salt
  • 2 T. baby oil (or vegetable oil)
  • 1-2 T. cream of tartar
  1. Crush dandelions into a bowl; add hot water
  2. Add in oil, salt, and cream of tartar. Give it a good stir to dissolve the salt
  3. Add 2 cups of flour to the mixture and stir until it is fully mixed
  4. Dig your hands in and mix some more. If it is sticky at this point, you might need to sprinkle in more flour and knead until it no longer sticks. The amount of flour that you may need to mix in will vary based on how much water the dandelions were holding.
