We are anticipating a wonderful program year at After School Heritage and look forward to serving your family.

Hello After School families,

We have made it to the end of another school year! This year felt, for me, like the first truly normal school year we have had since the beginning of the pandemic. We were able to all be together as a whole big After School family, which allowed for our older and younger kids to interact regularly. This is one of my personal favorite parts of the social dynamics that exist in our After School program. And while it may seem small, simply the ability to see everyone’s faces is something I think I will never take for granted again. This is a year where I got to see some who were at the beginning of their elementary school careers when I started at Heritage finish and move on to the next stage of their life; to see their growth is unlike anything else for me.

That brings me to some bittersweet news: This will be my last school year supervising the After School program at Heritage. I have had an absolute blast being here these past five years or so. Even on the most difficult days, being able to provide a space where kids could simply be themselves, relax, and have fun at the end of a long school day, and take the time to try new experiences and learn about each other never failed to bring me joy. While my life may be heading in a new direction and taking me away from Heritage, I will never forget the time I got to spend with the many families I’ve come to know.

Thankfully Louise Stacey will still be with our program at Heritage next year, so those returning will absolutely have a familiar face around. I will also probably see some of you a few times during the summer if you are enrolled in one of our camps. But again, thank you for making my time working at our program at Heritage such a positive one.

Here’s to another year in the books,

-Josh Harper
