Daily Activities

Wisconsin Youth Company 4K wrap teachers will create weekly lesson plans tiered to the children’s interest. Our 4K wrap program helps your child to discover new opportunities through our choice-based curriculum. Within daily activities, children will have a chance to participate in STEM, art projects, community building games, and other various hands-on activities to expand their developmental growth. Along with developing important life skills such as language, social, and emotional skills.

There will be time for daily outdoor time (weather permitted) where children will participate in group games and explore the playground.

Lunch

Hot lunch is available through the school. Please work with the school to set up this option.

If not receiving hot lunch, Parents must send a sack lunch that must not require refrigeration or microwaving; milk is provided. Some children have life-threatening allergies (like a peanut or tree nut allergy). For this reason, Wisconsin Youth Company requests that children bring a nut-free lunch.

Snack

  • A morning snack and milk will be provided
  • All snacks served at program are nut-free
  • All children must wash hands with soap and water before and after eating

Rest Time

  • Each day, there will be a 30-minute rest time for children. Wisconsin Youth Company will provide a padded mat and sheet for your child(ren) to lay on.
  • Under DCF state licensing, children are required to have a blanket at nap time. Please send a blanket with your child. You may also send a small pillow or stuffed animal. All items will be kept in a tote at program.
  • During rest time, the lights will be turned off and quiet music will be played. Children that do not choose to sleep may be given permission to play with small manipulatives near their mat.
  • At the end of each week, child(ren)’s items and rest sheet will be sent home to be washed and returned to program. It is important that Parents send the items back with their child on the following Monday.

Dear 4K Wrap families,

The past few months, our friends enjoyed an egg hunt, St. Patrick’s Day Party, and a Disney Family Gathering. Thank you for visiting our classroom and seeing their artwork. The kids enjoyed taking photos with the props. I loved getting to meet most of our parents/grandparents.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. I will talk about being in the present moment by using our senses: sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch. Before rest time, we will try this guided mediation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTzXFPh6CPI.

This week’s theme is Creative Arts and Imagination. Ask your kids about the Upside Down Art!

Our upcoming themes will focus on how workers build our community. The kids love it when we see a sheriff at the school. I thought this would be a great opportunity for the kids to learn about community building. The kids will be able to roleplay these professions in our Dramatic Play Center.

Upcoming Themes:

  • Dentist & Cinco De Mayo
  • Doctor & Mother’s Day
  • Firefighter
  • Postal Office Workers

New Things:

We are starting the day out saying The Pledge of Allegiance. The kids choose if they want to participate or not. We use this video to guide us https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ik4btCwalK4.

Class Goals:

  • Opening the chocolate milk carton alone during lunch. When we do, the class gets to make their own chocolate milk.
  • Using polite words with the lunch ladies.
  • Staying on task in the halls during bathroom breaks. Staying on task means hands to self, voices turned off, and walking feet.

Our Favorite Class Song:

Kid’s Favorite Projects:

  • Green pepper tasting
  • Reduce, reuse, recycle water sensory bin
  • Upside down art, under the table

Shoutouts:

James: Offered to help sweep floors when he saw me doing it. I love seeing how helpful James is.

Mya: Noticed on her own that the chairs weren’t pushed in after clean-up time. She immediately got up and pushed them all in. The little things are so helpful in keeping the classroom orderly.

Mariah: Noticed a friend was sad during rest time. Since the kids are quiet during rest time, she told me she was crying then talked with her after rest time, leading others to care for her. She is such a kind friend!

Kind Regards,
Olivia Odegard
4K Lead Teacher

Hello Magee families,

I hope everyone enjoyed a nice spring break as we head full swing into spring toward the end of the school year. The warmer weather is finally upon us and hopefully here to stay!

In the past month, the kids enjoyed doing more STEM projects during program. One of the STEM projects we had a lot of fun with was the toothpick-marshmallow challenge. Each kid had the opportunity to build a tower or bridge as tall as they could only using toothpicks and marshmallows. It was a lot of fun seeing their creativity come out in the buildings they built. We are looking forward to continuing our STEM projects into the month of May.

Moving into May, we will start to see more flowers coming into full bloom. Our morning and afternoon programs will take advantage of the spring weather and plant flowers of their own. As a group, we will plant different flowers into flowerpots that we are able to take care of in our classroom. Students will take turns caring for their classroom flowers to keep them alive and growing! This is a great opportunity for each child to take on responsibility caring for their flowers as well as building our classroom community with others.

Kindness Jar Update: Both morning and afternoon programs have been doing an awesome job earning marbles for their jars by doing acts of kindness throughout the classroom. Some acts of kindness that I wanted to highlight this past month were:

Grayson: Helping put away gym equipment he was not using.

Nolan & Kayla: Teaching a younger student how to play a game.

Campbell: Cleaning up snack area.

I am looking forward to all of the end of school year fun!

Mrs. Alex
