Hello families,

During November, we learned about leaves and how they change colors. We also made turkeys with our hands. The children also loved watching me mix vinegar and baking soda together to watch popcorn dance.

In December, we will learn about dinosaurs and holidays, along with learning more about each other’s family and things we like to do with each other.

Please know we are required to give the children a 30-minute rest time each day. We pass out a little activity box to each child to use during rest time if they are just wanting to relax and not sleep.

Ms. Missie and Ms. Olivia

Hello families,

We had a blast during the month of November! We went from playing outside in light sweaters to playing in the snow with all our winter gear. We celebrated Thanksgiving and Friends-giving. We talked a lot about what we are thankful for and made a Thankful Tree. We traced each child’s hand and wrote what they are thankful for and had it on our classroom door all month.

We have been working hard with asking each other for help when we need it. I have noticed it’s hard for some children to use their words to ask for help when they need it. When Olivia and I notice this, we ask that child questions and encourage them to ask us questions if they don’t know how to do something. It gives the children confidence when they can accomplish the task at hand by themselves, and they want to help their friends if they see they are struggling. Zipping up their coats is one example.

A big thank you to all our families who attended Family Day! We had a blast and the kids had fun!

Themes for the month of December:

  • Santa/Candy Canes
  • The Grinch
  • All Things Christmas [2 weeks-ish]

We will also be having a Christmas Party!

Winter Announcement:

Children will wear all winter clothes from the Primary School to the Intermediate school every day. (Snow pants, boots, gloves, hats, gloves, jackets etc.) If the weather is higher than a negative degree, we will play outside in the snow before we eat lunch. I will pick them up from the Primary School at 11:50 a.m. and we play outside for about 20-30 minutes.

Every day children in 4K Wrap bring their gym shoes from the Primary School to the Intermediate School. Please leave their gym shoes in their backpacks. They will travel back and forth every day. Our walk from school to school can take 10-15 minutes. Unfortunately, I do not have room to hold doubles of clothing for 17 kids in addition to the morning 4K Wrap class of 15 kids.

If your child takes the bus home and the weather is higher than a negative degree, they don’t have to wear their snow pants home. We can put them in your child’s backpack. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!

If you celebrate anything other than Christmas, could you please let me know? I want to make sure I include every holiday in the month of December to celebrate everyone. Thanks!

Thank you,
Cheyenne

Hello families,

I am Ms. Hailey, a.m. program support coordinator. I am stepping in for Ms. Megan while she is on maternity leave until February. I have been in and out of program before, so you may have seen me. I am excited to spend time in program and get to know everyone.

The children have been a great help while I learn the small things about program — reminding me of anything I may have forgotten or where to find things. It is very appreciated and wonderful of the children to help me.

This month we did many fall-themed activities including, a popsicle stick scarecrow, a turkey headband, and a no-sew turkey which turned out to be a creative challenge because we had to use white socks instead of brown. It was so amazing to see what they thought of instead of a turkey or, just the way they made it their own. Someone made a “Dumpling” named Dominic and it was truly adorable.

During December, will have an interesting mix of activities that I am excited to try with the children. If they enjoy them, I hope to add them into our daily or weekly activities. We will have a few wintery projects as well so we can decorate our room with them!

Again, thank you for your understanding while I continue to learn about the position and if I can do anything differently to better help you, let me know and I will do my best to adjust!

-Ms. Hailey
