In accordance with MMSD policy, face coverings are optional during After School. Face coverings will be available to those who need or choose to wear one.

After School Pick–up

Please confirm the most current cell phone numbers are listed in your Parent Portal. That will serve as our means of identifying Parents. Staff will have children clean up, gather belongings, sanitize hands, and exit the program space. We strongly encourage Parents to meet their child(ren) outside the door.
- If your child(ren) has not exited the school five minutes after your text, please call the program phone
- If a different pre-authorized pick-up person is planning to pick-up from After School, please notify our administrative office or the site directly

Family Events
Hello Van Hise families,
I can’t believe this is the last newsletter! The year has gone by, and I’ve seen so much growth in all the students. I want to thank you all for being patient with me when I started at this program and I’m so happy to have been a part of this community. My gratitude also goes out to each and every student that has come into our After School program. I have learned so much from them and I am happy to have met every single one of them.
What We Are Looking Forward To
Instead of looking forward to next month, I want to fast forward to the next school year. I plan to upgrade the dramatic play area we have at program and incorporate more materials. I know how imaginative and creative kids are, so I can’t wait to see what they’ll do with all the new items. Besides that, the layout will change a bit to accommodate the changes with the dramatic play area. I hope with these improvements, program next year will run a lot smoother, and I’ll get to see more collaboration and play between the grade levels.
Thank you all for a great school year and have a wonderful summer!
Bee
Group Spotlight | Van Hise Elementary
I wanted to change it up for the last newsletter and do a program spotlight. Many of you might not know this but before I started at Van Hise, I was the Site Supervisor at Randall Elementary. I was the only staff and had 17 kids at a given day. Comparing it to Van Hise, it was a big jump. I’m not going to lie, it was a little scary but looking back at it now, I’m so thankful to have been placed at Van Hise. Everyone was so welcoming and patient with me, I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I can’t wait for what next year has to offer.

- Favorite memory at Van Hise: The races we do when we aren’t able to go outside. I love how competitive the children are and how much they want to improve on their time. They’re not racing against each other but wanting to beat their own time. I love to see that, and I want you all to know that we have some potential Olympic runners at program.
- Summer plans: Taking a trip with family and friends.
- Favorite summer activity: Kayaking
