We are anticipating a wonderful program year at After School Van Hise and look forward to serving your family.

Hello Van Hise families,

We’re moving along into the year and I want to give a big shout out to all of you. Everyone is sending their kids with the appropriate gear for outside and that makes it a lot easier on my team and I. I know some children do lose their stuff during the school day and that’s OK because After School does have extra winter gear in case they need it. With Daylight Saving ending, I do my best to get the children outside before it gets too dark and then we use the gym after coming back from outside. Favorite gym activities: challenging Mr. B to gymnastics or any other physical activity, playing 500, and football.

I can’t believe we are already in December. To me, December represents looking back at what I’ve accomplished and what I’m hoping for in the upcoming year. With that said, I would love to see what the students were able to accomplish this year and what they are looking forward to, as well. Not only that, but I’ll be making my projects for the month of December glittery and sparkly, so we can end the year on a happy and shiny note.

Child Spotlight | Josiah

Josiah was a student I saw go above and beyond during the month of November. Not only was he the first student to ask about getting new books so he can read more at After School, but he showed a sense of friendship that really caught my eye. He was there for a friend when a friend needed it and he stuck with that friend until they felt comfortable again. Besides being an awesome friend, he knows how to reflect on his own actions and is very self-aware. It’s really cool to see!
