Hello Van Hise community, I want to welcome everyone again! It has been great to see all the returning families and all the new families who have joined this community. Thank you for coming up to introduce yourself and I will do my best to remember names. September was pretty warm, so the team and I did our best to get the children outside. Besides going outside, buoyancy boat building was an awesome project we did that got lots of kids involved. The kids made boats out of aluminum foil and cups, and tested how many pebbles could fit in their boat before it sank.

In the month of October, we are looking forward to autumn colors and family night. Bringing nature into projects will not only be beautiful, but I know it will help bring creative ideas to our space. I will also be asking the children for ideas to see if they have anything in mind they would like to do. I hope I’ll be able to continue this trend of getting your child’s voice in program because I know how creative they are!

I want to give a shoutout to Clara S. She’s in grade 2 and her creativity is still going strong. She looks up on the white board to see the activity for the day and is always ready to participate. Sometimes she and I are the only ones who start the activity, but her positive attitude brings in a crowd. It gets the other kids curious about what we’re doing and before we know it, lots of students are involved and that’s when the real fun starts! I’m happy she’s always ready to be such a great leader during projects!

Get To Know Staff

Site Supervisor: Bee Xiong aka Mr. Bee

Fun fact: I went to the Philippines this past summer

Fun fact: I created a self-portrait solely out of the phrase “Ode to Self” for an art class. Nothing else could be done but writing the words in various pen sizes.
