The teens in the teen program at Elver Park Park Neighborhood Center applied to design and hang a mural at Elver Park through the City of Madison Parks Department. Channel 3 covered their artwork in a recent news segment.

The teens wanted a theme that would best represent EPNC but also the Elver Park community. The mural is an original design, drafted by the teens and AmeriCorps member, Kayla Wasserman. The teens agreed upon a Black Lives Matter theme, which is represented by the fists in the mural. They also wanted to pay great homage to the late Martin Luther King Jr., and added one of his famous quotes: “The time is always right to do what is right.”
